Charcoal, Acrylic, and Pastel on Canvas
“Just now” is one of those South African expressions that doesn’t necessarily mean, well… just now. It might mean a little later, sometime soon, or simply, “I’ll get to it when I get to it.”
Growing up in South Africa, I became all too familiar with this flexible relationship with time. Alongside “now now”, “just now” is a gentle reminder that things don’t always happen exactly when we expect them to. Just Now is about slowing down, letting things unfold in their own time and accepting that sometimes, just now is quite soon enough.
